The Mandeville Library on Girod Street put up a modest display for gay pride month. Word is that it disturbed some patrons, and that Councilperson Maureen “Mo” O’Brien was encouraging a demonstration. Someone also mentioned the possibility of cutting funds to that particular branch, certainly an overreaction to the display. Most of the members of the library’s board of directors leave office on July 12. New ones will be appointed by the parish council.
