Over the last decade the Northshore Democratic Women’s Club has served the community with a wide variety of projects.
Current Projects
Our Friends Closet helps meet the needs for personal hygiene products, personal care items, gas cards and even food. Women’s Club members collect personal care items for Our Friends Closet every meeting. We also purchase Christmas gifts for a student selected by the organization each year.
Past Projects
Our 2022 calendar, Our Creatures Great and Small raised $2100 for three area animal shelters: The St. Francis Animal Sanctuary, Big Sky Ranch/Cat Nip, and the Northshore Humane Society. Using our own pets as models, we sold the calendars to friends and family.
The Town of Abita Springs hosts an annual Halloween Bash. We donate candy to support the event.
State Representative Mandie Landry from New Orleans has spoken to our group, and we liked her a lot, so we co-hosted a fund-raiser on her behalf.
We contribute to charities and organizations such as Zeus Rescues, Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Hospice House, and Second Harvest.
